Guidelines for a social media use

Together with people with disabilities we will develop and test guidelines and a toolbox for active and responsible use of social media that can be used in formal and informal education by the young people themselves.

These guidelines will be accessible and have different formats: text, pictograms, easy to read, video and audio. They will be modular and present core issues in different levels of complexity. They will contain information, but also tutorials and examples that the persons with disabilities can use to improve their social media activities.

The guidelines and toolboxes will be made in such a way that they can serve a broad range of users, from people with intellectual disabilities and to those facing motor, sensory or communicative challenges.

They will combine practical solutions related to the use of the tools, including assistive solutions (e.g. accessibility, assistive technologies). The guidelines will contain suggestions for digital identity development and safe and secure use of social media.

We will organize multiplier events targeting associations of parents and young people with disabilities.

Finally we will disseminate the guidelines and toolbox via social media and European umbrella organizations of disabled people and service providers to persons with disabilities.

To guarantee transferability the guidelines and toolbox will be made according to universal design principles.
